India starts in the world cup match:
In the opening match of Women T20 world cup, played between India vs Australia. India lost the toss and Australia opted to bowl. India openers started aggressively and they scored 46 in the mandatory power play, India got off to a flyer with Shafali Verma hitting 29 off just 15 balls but they lost the wickets of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur in quick succession. Middle-order struggled to score and with the help of a 50-plus stand between Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues helped India recover but they were not able to finish like T20. Deepti Sharma's score 49(46balls) and India women managed to score a mere 132 runs. And it was looking below par runs for Australian.

Australian openers provided a solid start and look like they were going to win the match with an easy note. Australia was scoring at a run-a-ball. In the powerplay, they haven't taken a lot of risks and had managed to keep the scoreboard moving. But Poonam Yadav finished with 4 for 19 as India won the tournament opener beating defending champions Australia by 17 runs. Shikha Pandey took 3 as Indian bowlers produced an exceptional show to defend a below-par total of 132 runs. India will next face Bangladesh on Feb 24
